The Silent Surface

Beneath the sapphire, deep and cold,

Where sunlight turns to pale green gold,

I hold my tail of silver-green,

But dream of lands I’ve only seen

Through shimmering distance, far above,

A world of ships, of light, of love.

My sisters talk of sandy shore,

But I desire so much more.

They speak of sunbeams, bright and hot,

Of scented flowers I know not.

My garden has a statue’s face,

A human boy in cold embrace.

Oh, to feel the warm air sigh,

And look upon the endless sky!

To walk on land with feet, not fins,

To know where the blue ocean ends—

To swap this crown of coral red,

For sky above my thirsty head.

I watch the white ships sailing by,

And wonder if they hear my cry,

A silent song beneath the waves,

A longing that my spirit craves.

Oh, take me up! Oh, let me see

The world that lies above for me.

BLESS YOU ALL AND SENDING HEALING HUGS AND PRAYERS TO ALL WHO NEED IT!
