Eowyn, Lady of Rohan
A Villanelle
Tall and beautiful, a profile set in stone,
The last rays of day shine on her chiseled face,
Full of pride and strong, not meant to stand alone.
Daughter of Rohan, she rode apart from everyone.
Disguising herself as Dernhelm, she kept up the pace,
Tall and beautiful, a profile set in stone.
Defying the foul Nazgul, arm shattered to the bone,
This fearless warrior, felt the brunt of his mace,
Full of pride and strong, not meant to stand alone.
Child of kings, fair but terrible, she uttered not a moan.
Bright steel blade in hand, cloving the Witch King’s head from its base,
Tall and beautiful, a profile set in stone
From a sleep of dark dreams, the King called her home,
But the death of the Lord of the Mark, she could not erase.
Full of pride and strong, not meant to stand alone.
The Steward of the Tower, a shieldmaiden’s heart he won.
The White Lady now comes, with presence and grace.
Tall and beautiful, a profile set in stone,
Full of pride and strong, not meant to stand alone.
