A Maiden Waits.....

Maiden waiting ~

I clasp my arms over ~
my heart anticipating.
Expectations of my love so true ~
why are all my loving dreams hesitating?
Can he have changed his promise ~ his boyishly innocent mind?
What answers will Love provide for me ~
in its twisted anguished time?
The dreams of Love and he and I ~
are reflected in my winsome dreamy eyes.
I sit here on the terrace praying to God ~
that he will grant me love so true.
If I'm abandoned ~ broken hearted ~
what else can I do?
So I wait with faith in his trothed love.
He is the only one I can possibly dream of.
True love has only one path ~ no debating ~
Here I sit, heart in hand ~ maiden waiting.

Lay Me Down on a Bed of Roses...

Sitting here wasted and wounded
At this old piano
Trying hard to capture
The moment this morning I don't know

'Cause a bottle of Vodka's still lodged in my head
And some blonde gave me nightmares
Think that she's still in my bed
As I dream about movies
They won't make of me when I'm dead

With an ironclad fist
I wake up and french kiss the morning
While some marching band keeps its own beat in my head
While we're talking

About all of the things that I long to believe
About love, the truth, what you mean to me
And the truth is
Baby you're all that I need

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
Oh I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Well I'm so far away
Each step that I take is on my way home
A king's ransom in dimes, I'd give each night
To see through this payphone

Still I run out of time
Or it's hard to get through
Till the bird on the wire flies me back to you
I'll just close my eyes and whisper
"Baby, blind love is true"

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
Oh I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Well this hotel bar's hangover whiskey's gone dry
The barkeeper's wig's crooked
And she's giving me the eye
Well I might have said yeah
But I laughed so hard I think I died
Ooh yeah

Now as you close your eyes
Know I'll be thinking about you
While my mistress she calls me
To stand in her spotlight again

Tonight I won't be alone
But you know that don't mean I'm not lonely
I've got nothing to prove
For it's you that I'd die to defend

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down
On a bed of roses

Shrinking Violets....

Shrinking Violets - Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Oh to be gentle in a world so loud!
Suspect, distrusted and much derided,
Touch-me-not-shy long under misty cloud:
Whom, Darwin dismissed ‘with odd state of head',
Jane Austin whilst gave shyness broader scope,
Calling it ‘moral, mental-borne disease',
And Freud, his fame fetching for men no rope,
With dream mind's subliminal twist of his,
He smelt of ‘displaced love of self-scored goals',
To where no fancy disposition was,
Poking fun at them, scoring birdie holes,
He saw somewhat hazy gossamer gauze!
And violets nigh sensitive to blame,
Besieged, shrunk with self-deprecating shame.

Perchance, shyness attracts public unease,
And yet we birds of feather are by far,
Men seldom unto common mould can squeeze,
Some dream of strange wings of a lone star;
So, let me offer them this goodly bliss—
That, shy souls often more inventive are,
Though sensitive nigh to a gawking gaze,
Tolerant are they still to worldly ways.
Mistaking plane shyness as being cold,
Aloof, and worse still somewhat arrogant,
And valuing those that be loud as bold,
A mark me seem of a tad ignorant.
Yet, let the world in ignorant bliss bask,
I marvel at my task— them to unmask.

Okay, I'm a touch-me-not violet,
Not so shy still, hiding hind cloak of veils,
Nor introvert with a lazy mind-set—
But with gifts to fertilise fecund skills
That may elude talkatively inclined,
Who, in loners, lack of social skills find.
Some greats do confess to ‘fainting with fears'
Ere speaking to the so-called loud speakers!
I know violet's shyness has no'ne hurt
But them—I too am cosy in my skin,
To keep flowers natural, verdant green,
This scarce can be claimed by an extrovert.
So then, O let me love my solitude,
And as being inventive, let me brood!
_____________________________________________ _______
This piece is a set of three sonnets in praise of the shy—shrinking violets. Its contents may find its reflection in two recent books brooding about bashfulness: The Man who mistook his Wife for a Hat, by Oliver Sacks; and Shrinking Violets: The Secret Life of Shyness, by Joe Moran. These books advocate that the shy should get a better deal, for they tend to be more creative. And musing about them, I feel elated.

Elven Guard Duty....

The Joys of Elves of Old

As with the joy of elves of old,
Did the guiding moon behold,
With the love that hailed their light,
Did she kiss them every night,
So, most beloved Elune, may we
Forever be led to thee.

As with the wayward steps they tread,
Did they fall to their watery bed,
There to bend their knees before,
He who scale and fin adore,
So may we with faithful feet,
Be ever seeking your heavenly seat.

As they offered gifts most rare,
At his crib, crude and bare,
We gave ourselves to your joy,
Pure and free from sin's employ,
So let us breathe sweet air,
Of your kind and motherly care.

O' great Elune, with every passing night,
Keep us in your heavenly light,
And when earthly things are past,
Bring our souls to you at last,
Where they need no stars to guide,
Where no clouds keep and hide.

Let it Snow,Let it Snow,Let it Snow......

Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Man, it doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've brought me some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow, let it snow

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

And the fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, and snow

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really grab me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

Oh, the fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Lavender Eyed Drow....

To be behind a slight disguise
behind those liquid lavender eyes

Long search hard to find
a special soul nothing unkind

A feeling strong a heart that's true
but wait, I think they're deep deep blue

I stare into a certain fate
I feel the pulse with quickened gate

Into those eyes I do fall
spirit image and magic call

I am certain this is no illusion
wonderful real no confusion

Lavender eyes forever together
sharing time with my beautiful feather

Lavender eyes no disguise
I gaze into those Lavender Eyes
