The Nutcracker
Over one hundred years ago
Before any living can recall
Began an enchanting tale of Christmas
The tale of Clara and her nutcracker doll.
Clara was a child of gentle nature
Who possessed a dreamer’s heart
And it was on a Christmas long ago
That her story has its start.
Her parents were hosting a holiday gathering
The day that her tale begins
A lively evening of food and dance
Reunion of family and friends.
But it was with the arrival of Godfather Dross
That really sets off this story
In he strode with a swish of his cape
Tall and confident in his majestic glory.
After boomed greetings he dramatically produced
Several acts to amuse and delight
Dancing dolls, marching soldiers, all alive
It was quite a spectacular sight.
And then came the presents for each child
Dolls for girls and soldiers for each boy
But for Clara, his favorite, was a special gift
A magnificent nutcracker toy.
Clara could not believe her eyes
She stared, breathless with delight
She had possessed the nutcracker so briefly
But already loved him with all her might.
Somehow a connection passed between them
A karma of some kind
She looked into his painted eyes
And felt kinship of soul and mind…
But Fritz, her brother, in a jealous rage
Quickly snatched the hapless doll
And through a struggle that ensued
Broke its wooden jaw.
Clara was crushed by the nutcracker’s breaking
But Godfather came to the rescue
Swiftly he took the doll from her
And tied its jaw with a tissue.
Not long after, the party guests departed
And Clara’s family went to bed
Clara went to check on her nutcracker’s jaw
But fell asleep before the tree instead.
And oh then, when she awoke, what a sight
For the tree had grown to enormous size
And under it, to her great fear
Was an army of vicious mice!
They circled Clara with threatening intent
Each holding a sword or knife
Bu then, to her shock, she saw-
Her nutcracker had come to life!
Tall and imposing, strong and brave
He fought for Clara’s protection
Killing the mice’s jeering Mouse King
And sending them scuttling off in dejection.
And then, before Clara’s astonished eyes
He turned into a stately young man
He was a prince- disguised as a toy
And he took Clara by the hand.
“Come with me to the Land of Sweets,” he called,
“There you’ll see a spectacular scene
Come with me- they are waiting there
And you shall be their queen…”
So Clara came on his winter sleigh
And oh, what a vision did occur!
What beautiful creatures- what marvelous sights
As they all bowed and danced for her!
Snowflakes and flowers flitting about
Sugar plums and striped candy canes
Gumdrops and people of all nations-
Over them all she was to reign!
Each showered her with welcomes
And performed a special dance
By the prince’s side Clara sat
Nearly lulled into a hypnotic trance.
And all too soon they waved goodbye
Fading away with a twinkling gleam
And Clara awoke by her nutcracker’s side
For it had only been a dream.

This is My Favorite time of the year and one of My favorite past times is watching
The Nutcracker Ballet and listening to the sound track. I even have it on a old fashioned
music box! I am so happy to announce this November Round of Enchantment is....
wait for it....
YES!!! The Nutcracker!!! I am So excited and can not wait to see all the lovely creations from all the awesome creators!!!
